Keep the Prayers Coming!! From Rocio Montagner

As I sit here that familiar fear enters my heart, Kelvin had been improving but seems to be declining once again! He has stop walking completely once again stating his legs hurt and has not been able to sleep for the past 2 nights. This morning he started to vomit, he has not vomited in weeks! As you well know our hearts are sinking once again! How could this be happening? Had been doing so well! Why???? Please, I ask you all to continue to pray for my angel, he says he is not ready to go to heaven! I believe him! He tries so hard to smile and to be happy even though he is not feeling well. He is such a fighter and I feel will not give up! Its so hard to let go as a mother I want nothing else but to hold my little boy and tell him that all will be all right and that this is just something that will go away and he will once again be able to run and play like he use too! Life is so unfair sometimes! Don't get me wrong, I am thanking God for each and every day he has given us with our Kelvin and continue to pray that he gives us many, many more! The holidays are so difficult too! This can not be happening now! Kelvin has been telling everyone "I have been such a good boy that I get 2 Christmas' this year!" Please I beg you all to keep Kelvin in every prayer you say today and for the days to come! In my heart I want to believe that he will survive this horrible beast and that this will all be just a terrible memory!
Begging for your prayers,
MOM & DAD

Happy Thanksgiving-From Randy

Happy Thanksgiving to all my family and friends. This is my favorite holiday of the year. No rushing around fighting the crowds, shopping, spending way too much money. Just some time set aside to spend with family, eat lots of good food and enjoy each others company, and give thanks for all we have. We do have a lot to be thankful for, you know. On a larger scale, I'm thankful for living in the greatest country in the world, and the good life it has given us. On a more personal level, I'm thankful for my wife and my kids and grandkids. I'm thankful that my mother is with us and loves and enjoys her grandchildren and great grandchildren. I'm thankful for my grandson Nathan, who is now an angel in heaven, thankful for the time we had with him, however short. I'm thankful for my brother and sister and my nieces. I'm thankful for my aunts (and my auntie)and uncles and all my cousins. I hope all of you have a great thanksgiving.

My wife and I miss our son Andrew, but we are proud of him and thankful that we raised a son that felt a need to serve his country (He's currently in Iraq). It reminds us that, in spite of ourselves, we did a good job raising him (and his sisters). We didn't do it alone though. We did it with Gods help. Keep him, and all the servicemen, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and the Coast Guard, in prayer today as you give thanks. We just want all of them home safe and sound.

Also, please keep my sister Evelyn, in prayer. She's been sick. I won't go into detail right now, but please keep her in your prayers.

Continue to keep Kelvin Montagner in your prayers as well, as he continues to fight cancer. We're praying for a knockout! We know he's going to win his fight!

God Bless you all and have a Happy Thanksgiving
Randy De La O

Praying and Thanking God for Everyday!!

I continue to thank God for everyday that He has given us with our little angel! God is so great! He has allowed us to spend these days with our little angel!! We have continued to have faith that Kelvin will one day run and play like he use to. Kelvin continues to shock us! He has been so excited to go to Chucky Cheese so we decided to take him! He walked from game to game! He played and was so excited to be there! He got tired after 2 hours and sat. He did not want to go but finally after another hour he said "OK mommy, lets go cash in my tickets and go home." I felt so happy to see him so happy!

We continue to treat him with alternative medicines. He feels so much better and does not mind it! I continue to kick myself for not knowing about this! So many people get cured without having to suffer so much or they just have a better quality of life! I believe that my son is in Gods hands and if it is His wish He will cure my angel! Kelvin continues to fight, not wanting to give up! He says "I defeated the monster once and I will defeat him again!" He also prays every night and asks God to kill the monster and I know that God is listening!
Please continue to pray that a true miracle will happen and that my little warrior will win this battle!

A friend gave him the movie "Polo Express", Kelvin again said "Mommy, I know I have been so good this year and I am on Santa's good list so I am asking him to make me some magic powder to kill the monster". I told him that Santa makes toys and that God is the one to ask to kill the monster. I told him that God is our savior and if he prays and believes that He will cure him! I tell him this because I believe that God can cure him!

Praying for a Cure,
MOM *& DAD
P.S. I will also forward you a picture of Kelvin playing games in Chicky Cheese.

FIGHTING THE FIGHT!!

Imagine going home, leaving the hospital and instead of being happy feeling scared and wondering what lies ahead? Imagine it even worst, going home and the doctors telling you that there is no more hope, that the only thing ahead is death. Even worst, its not your death its the death of your child. The son you carried, felt every move he made even felt when he had the hiccups then you held him in your arms for the first time. You watched him say his first word, take his first step. You took him to school for the first time and you cried all the way home not wanting to leave him there and watching the clock anxious to pick him up! How can this be happening? It just can't be! Now your suppose to sit at home and watch him die?? NO!! I won't do it!! This is what kept going through my head, I was up at all hours of the night on the computer looking up all kinds of information about cancer and how to beat it! I could not sleep, I could not eat and did not even remember the last time I showered and changed. I was not giving up, this is my baby. He has gone through so much, so much poison has been pumped through his veins and his body could not take it anymore! So what did it do, it fought back and filled my babies head with cancer! I sit and read all of the side affects of chemo and there it is in black and white, "May cause other cancers". You are so desperate and you accept it, chemo. You are not aware of other options, no one tells you! So as I laid by sons side counting every breath, watching him and praying that he would wake up to have another day with him. I heard the door bell and it was the mail man he had a package, as I opened the package I saw information about a doctor in Texas who does alternative medicines, I called him and explained Kelvin's case they listened and said they would get back to me. I waited but no one ever called back. A few days later I received a package from this doctor with a list of all kids of natural supplements and vitamins he recommends you take. So I sent Frank to the Vitamin shop and bought everything I thought I could get Kelvin to take. I asked him if he wanted to see another doctor he said "Lets give it another shot!" I knew then that he was not ready to die, he wanted to live and wanted to continue to fight! He has, he has been fighting and he has improved! It is such a miracle to watch him live! My little boy is living! He is doing so many things that he could not do before! He is playing games, watching TV and now when anyone comes to visit he says "I have a surprise for you!!" He gets up off the couch and walks!! He has not walked since September! We don't know how much time we have with our angel! We are just so thankful for the time we have and pray for more! I pray that God continues to work within my baby and cures him! I always say this "I believe in Miracles" I do I really do.
The fact that my son is with us is a miracle and I continue to ask you all to pray for a cure, a miracle! We will not give up! No matter what the doctors tell us we won't give up!!
Praying for a Miracle and
Never giving up Hope!!

A Little Humor

Life, kids and generalized insanity

NUDITY. I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, "Mom! That lady isn't wearing a seat belt!"

HONESTY. My son Zachary, 4, came screaming out of the bathroom to tell me he'd dropped his toothbrush in the toilet. So I fished it out and threw it in the garbage. Zachary stood there thinking for a moment, then ran to my bathroom and came out with my toothbrush. He held it up and said with a charming little smile, "We better throw this one out too then, 'cause it fell in the toilet a few days ago.

OPINIONS. On the first day of school, a first-grader handed his teacher a note from his mother. The note read, "The opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily those of his parents."

KETCHUP. A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup to come out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone. "It's the minister, Mommy," the child said to her mother. Then she added, "Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle."

MORE NUDITY. A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, "What's the matter? Haven't you ever seen a little boy before?"

DRESS-UP. A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her dad donning his tuxedo, she warned, "Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit." "And why not, darling?" "You know that it always gives you a headache the next morning."

SCHOOL. A little girl had just finished her first week of school. "I'm just wasting my time," she said to her mother. "I can't read, I can't write and they won't let me talk!"

BIBLE. A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. "Mama, look what I found", the boy called out." What have you got there, dear?" With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, "I think it's Adam's underwear!"

SOUTHERN GRANDMOTHER ON THE WITNESS STAND

Lawyers should never ask a Southern grandma a question if they aren't prepared for the answer. In a trial, a southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, "Mrs. Sanders, do you know me?"

She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Desmond. I've known you since you were a young boy and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you."

The lawyer was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Sanders, do you know the defense attorney?" She again replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known Mr. Cristofaro, since he was youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him."

The defense attorney almost died.

The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and in a very quiet voice said, "If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you to the electric chair."

Democrats take control of the Senate

By LIZ SIDOTI and BOB LEWIS, Associated Press Writers

WASHINGTON - Democrats wrested control of the Senate from Republicans Wednesday with an upset victory in Virginia, giving the party complete domination of Capitol Hill for the first time since 1994.

Jim Webb's squeaker win over incumbent Sen. George Allen (news, bio, voting record) gave Democrats their 51st seat in the Senate, an astonishing turnabout at the hands of voters unhappy with Republican scandal and unabated violence in Iraq. Allen was the sixth Republican incumbent senator defeated in Tuesday's elections.

The Senate had teetered at 50 Democrats, 49 Republicans for most of Wednesday, with Virginia hanging in the balance. Webb's victory ended Republican hopes of eking out a 50-50 split, with Vice President Dick Cheney wielding tie-breaking authority.

The Associated Press contacted election officials in all 134 localities where voting occurred, obtaining updated numbers Wednesday. About half the localities said they had completed their postelection canvassing and nearly all had counted outstanding absentees. Most were expected to be finished by Friday.

The new AP count showed Webb with 1,172,538 votes and Allen with 1,165,302, a difference of 7,236. Virginia has had two statewide vote recounts in modern history, but both resulted in vote changes of no more than a few hundred votes.

An adviser to Allen, speaking on condition of anonymity because his boss had not formally decided to end the campaign, said the senator wanted to wait until most of canvassing was completed before announcing his decision, possibly as early as Thursday evening.

The adviser said that Allen was disinclined to request a recount if the final vote spread was similar to that of election night.

The victory puts Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., in line to become Senate majority leader. He has led the Democrats since Tom Daschle, D-S.D., was defeated two years ago.

Bush says Rumsfeld is stepping down

By DAVID ESPO and LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writers

WASHINGTON - Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld stepped down as defense secretary on Wednesday, one day after midterm elections in which opposition to the war in
Iraq contributed to heavy Republican losses.

President Bush said he would nominate Robert Gates, a former
CIA director, to replace Rumsfeld at the
Pentagon.

Asked whether his announcement signaled a new direction in the war that has claimed the lives of more than 2,800 U.S. troops, Bush said, "Well, there's certainly going to be new leadership at the Pentagon."

Bush lavished praise on Rumsfeld, who has spent six stormy years at his post. The president disclosed he met with Gates last Sunday, two days before the elections in which Democrats swept to control of the House and possibly the Senate.

Last week, as he campaigned to save the Republican majority, Bush declared that Rumsfeld would remain at the Pentagon through the end of his term.

Rumsfeld, 74, was in his second tour of duty as defense chief. He first held the job a generation ago, when he was appointed by President Ford.

Whatever confidence Bush retained in Rumsfeld, the Cabinet officer's support in Congress had eroded significantly. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., the House speaker-in-waiting, said at her first postelection news conference that Bush should replace the top civilian leadership at the Pentagon.

And Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, who had intervened in the past to shore up Rumsfeld, issued a statement saying, "Washington must now work together in a bipartisan way — Republicans and Democrats — to outline the path to success in Iraq."

The Pentagon offered no date for Rumsfeld's departure.

Gates, 63, has served as the president of Texas A&M University since August 2002, and as the university's interim dean of the
George Bush School of Government and Public Service from 1999 to 2001.

The school is home to the presidential library of Bush's father. Gates is a close friend of the Bush family, and particularly the first President Bush.

He served as deputy national security adviser from 1989 to 1991 and then as CIA director during the first Iraq war, from 1991 until 1993.

Gates joined the CIA in 1966 and is the only agency employee to rise from an entry level job to the 7th floor director's office. He served in the intelligence community for more than a quarter century, under six presidents.

Bush has considered Gates for jobs before, including in 2005 when he was searching for a candidate to be the nation's first national intelligence director.

His nomination must be confirmed by the Senate.

Rep. Ike Skelton (news, bio, voting record), D-Mo., who is expected to chair the House Armed Services Committee next year, said Rumsfeld's resignation "presents an important opportunity for our country to begin a new policy direction in Iraq and in the war on terrorism."

He encouraged the Bush administration to take advantage of the fresh start.

Vote!

Just a reminder to family and friends, and to anyone else that might be reading this post. Don’t forget to vote tomorrow, Tuesday November 7th. How easy it would be to say “The hell with it!” , as more and more people are staying home on Election Day. Think of it this way, regardless of your political affiliation, if you stay home, you might just as well have voted for the other guys. It comes down to choices and where you think our country should be headed. No big deal? Ask yourself this, do you want a secular government, or do you want a government that recognizes our Judeo-Christian roots? Do you feel we should be giving more money to the government, or do you want to pay less taxes and keep more of your hard earned money. Perhaps you are satisfied with the way our country handles the illegal immigration problem and perhaps you’re not. Maybe you’re just content to let someone make these decisions for you. But if you want some say in where our country is going, tomorrow is the day to be heard. How you vote, or not, will help determine which direction America is going. My personal opinion is, it’s our duty. It’s both a right (if we obey the laws) and a privilege to vote. I happen to think we still live in the greatest country in the world. Apparently, millions of other people the world over feel the same way, because they risk life and limb to get here. With all our flaws, we still have a pretty good life here. Let’s keep it that way. Vote! God Bless America!

Kelvin is my Hero!! Rocio Montagner

Today was a good day! Kelvin had some visitors and he enjoyed them!! He has tried his best to stand and walk but his feet are so weak but he says he will do better tomorrow! He is unstoppable! He also wants to take a bubble bath tomorrow!! He has been improving, he is not as confused or sleepy!! We have been giving him alternative treatments of vitamins and minerals and other things to help him feel better and they have been working! God has been helping my little angel respond! As you all know we just don't want to give up!! Kelvin continues to tell me that HE WILL DEFEAT THIS MONSTER!! I believe him, and I believe him when he tells me that he spoke to God and told him that he would see Him when he was old and ready!! As a mother I will try what ever I can to keep him with us!! I love him so much and can't stand the thought of loosing him!! His appetite is still very low and well this does worry me so much! I try to offer him little snacks during the day in hopes he will consume some calories and get stronger. He is so thin! I look at pictures of him and I just can't believe how much weight he has lost!! I pray that he will gain weight soon!! I refuse to believe that he will leave us, he still has so much to do and so many plans he has to full fill! He continues to insist he will go on the Disney cruise and I agree with him! I know he will!! We are praying that he gets strong enough to go soon!! I did not realize how many more things you can do to help defeat cancer!! We were never told how horrible and dangerous sugar is when you have cancer!! Cancer feeds on sugar and you should eliminate it from your diet!! Vitamins and minerals are also so important!! We were never told of this either!! I just get so mad at myself for not looking into these things before and just did as we were told!!
I am attaching some pictures of the Gala we attended. Kelvin looks so happy!! He was!! I am so glad we went!! These memories will stay with us forever!! One of these pictures was published in the Spanish magazine "Vanidades" it was the October issue with the pink ribbon at the end of the title! Kelvin saw it and says he is a star!! He is right, he is my little STAR!!
We pray that tomorrow will bring good things and more improvement in Kelvin's health!! He is a fighter and will conquer this monster!!
Praying for a Miracle!!

Trick or Treat!! Kelvin The Red Power Ranger!

Last night we took Kelvin Trick or Treating! We are in San Diego at my parents house and my mom and I took him out to her neighbors. He wore his Power Red Ranger costume that he had picked out weeks ago and we wrapped him around a warm blanket put him in his chair and went out. He was excited, he had been sleeping most of the day but when we told him if he wanted to go out he smiled and said "OK". I dressed him up and gave him a bag and we were off! It was great!! We would go up to the homes and he would say "Trick or Treat" and would put out his bag. It was wonderful to see him smile and excited! Most of the neighbors new his story and would give him hand fulls of candy! They would tell him how they were praying for him and he would say "I beat another monster before and I am going to beat this one!" I felt such joy watching my little warrior! He just does not want to give up! He is so amazing!
I pray that we will have more holidays together and that this will be one of many Halloween's to come! It brings him such joy! He tells me "Mommy Christmas is coming!" I tell him that he was such a good boy that he already had Christmas this year. He responds "Mommy I am such a good boy that Santa is giving me 2 Christmas' this year!" I tell him yes and continue to pray and beg God to let me keep him a while longer. It is so strange to think of having holidays without him. I try not to imagine this because it just can't happen! The moment he was born my life was changed! My life had true meaning, all the holidays had a extra special meaning! I was sharing them with a little baby a baby that made us go from Frank & Rocio the couple to The Montagner Family! He made us a family! I can't imagine living everyday without him! It just can't happen! Miracles happen and I continue to pray and ask you all to pray for a Miracle!! Sometimes I get so scared and then I get so angry at myself for thinking negative! I can't doubt! I have to continue to BELIEVE that a miracle will come true! Seeing him in his costume reminds me of his first Halloween when I dressed him up as the Snuggle Teddy Bear! He was so cute, only 4 months! I remember walking over to my neighbors carrying him and they would just laugh and Kelvin would just giggle! All my neighbors would make special little treats for him because he was the new baby in the block! What joy he brought them! Every year I remember every costume and how we carved our first pumpkin! He loved sticking his hand in and pulling out the seeds! He loved it until he was 4 then it became "Gross mommy! They are so slippery!" He loved getting the sharpy and making the face and if daddy did not cut it exactly like Kelvin wanted it he would get mad! Frank had to explain to him that he needed to carve the eyes a little bigger so that the light would come out and then he would be all right! What fun! These memories will live forever! A friend wrote to Kelvin and said "The monsters will never win! They will never win because you will live forever!" They are so right! Kelvin will live forever! He will always be here in my heart and in my mind! He will always be remembered as a warrior, a fighter who continues to fight and never gives up! I pray that God is listening and sees the fight that Kelvin is putting up! He needs to win!
I am attaching a picture of my little Power Ranger! He chose the red one because the Red Ranger is the leader! He is the strongest of the rangers who always defends his companions and is the first to go into battle! He believes that he is a super hero and I believe him when he tells me that he will defeat what ever monsters get in his way! He says he is not afraid of any monster because he is "THE MOST POWERFUL RANGER, THE RED POWER RANGER!"
Praying for Miracles,
MOM & DAD
