La Tamalada

Last Sunday Jeri and I got together with the girls to make tamales for the first time in 15 years. We were a little disorganized and it was a little chaotic but after we got going we did a pretty good job. They came out exceptionally great!

Naturally we used New Mexico Red and Green Chile for the tamales. The green chlie was purchased directly from Biad Chile Products in Mesilla, New Mexico. The green chile was exceptional. We got the New Mexico Red Chile powder at Snart & Final. The brand name was Tradewinds. Not as hot as some of the red chile I've bought in New Mexico but the deep rich red chile flavor was there.

Jeri wanted to do this for the grandkids. Something to keep them close to their roots, start a new family tradition and build some lifelong memories.
