Jeri and I were out and about today in Los Angeles and decided to stop at our favorite Boyle Heights restaurant. The food is always top notch and so is the service and today was no exception. Jeri had the chile relleno and enchilada combination plate, which she said was absolutely delicious. While I usually opt for the chile verde, today I decided to go with the chile colorado with beef. The meat was tender and moist and cooked to perfection, and the sauce, while mild (I prefer hot), was filled with a deep red chile flavor. The ubiquitous rice and beans did not disappoint. The tortillas, both corn and flour, are made to order.
The environment is both humble and festive. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food. Give it a try if you are in the area.
